2018 FAREAST 28R World Championship welcomes 26 teams to compete

On October 10th, the second FAREAST 28R World Championship took place officially at Fuxian Lake, Yuxi China. 26 teams out of 14 countries coming from 5 continents have gathered here for the glory of the world championship title.

On the 9th, after registration and measurement, all the teams went into the water for the practice race during the rainy afternoon. It was Wilfersail Racing Team representing Netherland that took the lead.

Before the practice race, the women’s match race between team MMXV from Denmark and Team USA was held at 11am just in front of the club pontoon, to showcase women’s bravery, courage and talent in sailing. Anna Holmdahl White, the commercial director of Women’s International Match Racing Association gave a live commentation, together with Mats Runstrom, the secretary of International FAREAST 28R Class Association. Team MMXV was the winner with a 2:1.

 The opening ceremony was held in the evening at Angsana Fuxian Lake hotel with beautiful local dancing and delicious food. All the sailors enjoyed the party and now they are really looking forward to competing on water soon.
