SailLaser Training Center
Introduction
As the training center for the SailLaser in China, the Shanghai Sailing Club has systematic and professional training courses. Under the instruction of professional coaches, only 3 days are needed to accomplish the training course in theory, simulation and practice. You can sail LASER like PICO and DART 16 and experience ultimate thrills on the water.
Birth of the LASER
Some time ago, an English sailboat maker named Lan Bruce found a Canadian designer to design a cheap, light and curvy weekend leisure boat which would be easy to transport on top of a car, in order to enjoy nature in the wild.
Bruce Kirby thought it would be ideal to have ultimate speed, and applied 12.5 feet as the length of the water. The result was a single-handed sailing dinghy with a 13.10.5’in length, 4.6’in beam, and 130 pounds weight. With the addition of a 76m2 sail made by Hans Fogh, the prototype was completed very quickly. Bruce, Kirby, and Fogh gathered outside Montreal and took the last test. They selected one of the two prototypes and named it “LASER”; it was then put into production by shipyard Price Sailcraft. The boat was shown to the public in the New York boat show in 1971, getting a warm welcome; sales went up. Before long the “LASER” was produced throughout the world and it became an internationally registered racing sailboat.
The LASER
The LASER is the most popular adult racing boat around the world today and an item for men and woman in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and 2012 Olympic Games in London. The LASER has good maneuverability. Sailing a LASER can train the sailor in the carefulness of steering, the proficiency of seamanship, and the maneuverability of tactics, which is very challenging. Today more than 250,000 athletes and enthusiasts in over 140 countries are sailing a LASER.
