Headquartered in Shanghai, Shanghai Fareast Co., Ltd. operates an approximately 18,000-square-metre production base focused on the research, development and manufacture of complex, high-strength and lightweight composite products. Our work spans dinghies, keelboats, multihulls, RIBs, custom boats and other lightweight composite applications. The company holds ISO 9001 quality management system certification and has been recognized as a Shanghai High-tech Enterprise. For Fareast, manufacturing capability is not measured by the number of machines on the factory floor. It is measured by how reliably a design can become a product that customers can sail, train with, race and operate over time.

Turning design intent into a repeatable
production process
Fareast operates multiple semi-automated production lines, with standardized procedures extending through tooling, composite processing, assembly and quality control. Production capabilities include industrial robots, five-axis and three-axis CNC machining centers, a gantry machining centre, large-format laser cutting and precision colour printing. For relevant projects, one-piece aluminium female molds are machined on five-axis CNC equipment to achieve complex surfaces and controlled tooling accuracy. Together, these capabilities reduce reliance on individual manual technique, help control production variation and create a clearer link between design intent, manufacturing process and finished product.

From a first dinghy to a wider sailing plan The Fareast range spans dinghies, keel boats, cruising multihulls and on-water support craft. Optimist, ILCA and 29er support youth development, training and racing. The Fareast 19R, 23R and 28R support club programs and competitive sailing, including one-design racing. The NYX 42C/CEP brings the range into multihull cruising, while the Fareast RIB series supports race management, rescue and other on-water operations. Each boat answers a different need, but the principle remains the same: begin with the real sailing context, then align the product, specification and support route with the customer’s programme.
GLOBAL CONNECTIVITY
By 2026, Fareast had supplied more than 24,239 sailing boats to the global market. Supported through a network of more than 60 dealers across over 50 countries. REGATTA EXPERIENCE
We do not only build racing boats. We understand how racing works.
Fareast has supplied boats, equipment and on-site services to nearly 100 national and international events and major activities. The record includes the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games, Optimist world and continental championships, ILCA world championships and national sailing events in China. From equipment supply and event rental to technical services and fleet support, the exact scope is confirmed for each event or project. Long-term involvement on the racecourse also keeps our manufacturing teams connected to how sailors, coaches, officials and organisers use the equipment in practice. Fareast also supports Fareast 28R one-design racing and related virtual sailing initiatives, connecting the boat, class activity and wider race community.
BEYOND THE BOAT
Keeping sailing active after delivery
Fareast has operated sailing-club services since 2010. Through its club business, the group provides boating experiences, youth sailing camps, professional training, team programs, member services and event operations. The club was also approved as Asia’s first official World Match Racing Tour Academy. Over the years, these activities have generated around 100,000 participant engagements and the team has organized or supported more than 100 events in China and internationally. Manufacturing helps us understand the product. Clubs and regattas keep us close to the people using it. Together, they allow Fareast to move beyond delivering a boat and support a longer experience on the water.
