OPTIMIST

DINGHYS

Long before Fareast was founded in 2002, its founder, a world champion in model sailing, had already spent years building Optimists. From those early years of hands-on boatbuilding to the development of a more structured production system, Fareast has remained focused on small sailing dinghies. Between 2006 and 2011, Fareast Optimist sales had already grown to a leading position in the market. To date, Fareast has delivered more than **XXXX Optimists** worldwide. More than two decades of continuous production have done more than build experience. They have allowed Fareast to turn that experience into clearer, more repeatable manufacturing standards. Today, the Fareast dinghy range covers single-handed classes including the Optimist and ILCA, double-handed classes such as the International 420 and 29er, as well as a wider range of training and recreational sailing boats.

From Experience to Manufacture

Respect for Class Rules Comes First

For class boats, Fareast begins with one principle: strict compliance with class rules and measurement requirements. Within those rules, years of boatbuilding knowledge are translated into standardised production processes. From composite-material selection and cutting to lay-up, moulding and assembly, each stage is managed with clearly defined procedures. Automated machinery is used for material processing, while vacuum processes are applied in composite production. Key manufacturing dimensions are controlled to **0.1 mm**, and material calculations are measured to **0.1 g**. These numbers are not simply about greater precision. They represent lower material waste, more efficient production and, most importantly, greater consistency from one boat to the next.

In One Design and class racing, manufacturing consistency is part of the foundation of fair competition. Fareast continues to invest in mechanised, standardised and scalable production, with the goal of maintaining consistent manufacturing quality even when boats are produced and delivered in larger numbers.

Bringing Manufacturing Consistency to the Racecourse

By reducing the differences that can be controlled at the manufacturing stage, we want sailors to focus more of their attention on what should decide the race: training, technique, teamwork and execution.

High precision. High efficiency. High consistency.

From Boatbuilder to Global Sailing Partner

Fareast has recently become a “Global Partner of World Sailing”. Through cooperation in boat supply, event promotion and wider sailing projects, Fareast and World Sailing will work together to improve the accessibility, sustainability and technical development of sailing equipment worldwide. For Fareast, this partnership represents more than recognition. It also brings a broader responsibility.

From building Optimists to developing a range that now spans single-handed dinghies, double-handed classes, training boats and sport sailing platforms, Fareast is bringing decades of manufacturing experience into a wider global sailing ecosystem. Our goal is simple: to make reliable, consistent sailing equipment available to more sailors, while continuing to improve the way boats are built, produced and delivered. More consistency in manufacturing. More focus on sailing.
